Whitehorse to Watson Lake July 11th 13th

Before we left Pine Lk. we met a fellow that had just towed his trailer to the campsite on three wheels. He had just came in off the rough road, some how he had lost a wheel bearing and attempted to tow his trailer with a wheel missing. Bad idea, he absolutely destroyed his spindle, he took the axle out at the campsite. Next day he was taking it to Whitehorse to see if he c, ready to could find a new one. We wished him luck, hopefully he found one. To top it off he was with a group that carried on to Haines, then to Skagway, then the White Pass train trip. Unfortunately he was going to miss it all. He also told us of a guy that broke a spring shackle, they tied it up to the frame and he hoped to get it welded in Haines. Another guy lots his towed, it received some damage. We also saw a small trailer that had ratchet straps over it holding it to the frame. So our broken plate and a few bounces, we got lucky, or I slowed down enough not to break anything.

At Whitehorse we restocked and had lunch at Earls , good as usual. I asked Pat if she wanted to go back to the quilt store, she said, if I have to. She went in and said, my husband made me do it. They all laughed and said, we usually hear don't tell my husband or he is going to kill me. She did find another project for the winter. Fueled up, propane, water, food, wine and the quilt shop. Ready to continue down the road.

Teslin TP. was our next stop, the weather was crappy so we only stayed the night. The water in the lake was still high but had lowered some. Still in flood stages though. Not to far from here there is a forest fire, poor people, a double whammy.

We are now in Watson LK. As I said before, they have a good Chinese food restaurant here. So after we unhooked off we went to eat, good a usual. I made a sign for the Sign Post Forest out of a dollar store cutting board, time to attach it.

The sign didn't turn out as good as I would have liked but what do you do away from home with limited supplies.

Got fuel, milk and doing laundry.

Tomorrow we head down the Hwy 37
