Pine Lk. - Tok Ak. June 28th July 1st
Pine Lk. T.P. was nice, managed to get supper cooked on the fire before the thunder clouds let loose. They only last for an hour or so, then it is sunny again. On our way again. Just passed Destruction Bay, the road takes a turn for the worse, I mean BAD. For most of it the top speed was 60km, coming almost to a stop to go over the worst obstacles. I did check all the suspension and other parts on the truck and trailer when we made it to Tok. We finally made it to Snag Junction T.P., looked like a nice place till we got out of the truck. The mosquitoes were the worst we have seen so far. Just opening the trailer door a dozen or more would come in, then the hunt was on. We made it through the night and headed off to Tok. Ak. Lots of smoke in the air, so no pictures.
The border crossing was entertaining, there was a motor home ahead of us and the top of his rig was hitting the 12ft 10in clearance sign. A few tense moments for them, I am sure. After climbing up on his ladder, he determined that he could make it through. I think the sign had sagged over the years. Lucky for him. I stayed well back just in case he had to unhitch his towed and back out.
Our turn next: Do you have anything to declare 'no' where are you going 'down the road' any fresh fruit or vegetables 'no' any fire wood 'no' has your cat had it's rabies shot 'yes' have a nice holiday. And we were in. The road did get better on the US side, the closer to Tok we got.
At Tok we looked at a State Park, just a bit small for us, so decided to stay in town at Tok RV Village, $68.00 US a night, ouch, must admit, it is one of the nicer ones, some trees between sites, so a bit of room. We did get $.10 off fuel at the station across the street, so we saved $4.00, yay.
Not much in the way of animals, we have seen a couple of moose since Haines and nothing else. Nice to see them though.
Heading down to the Glennallen area today, sunny so far.

The Tok RV Village looks nice.. big spots! Following along with the map!
