Moberly Lk and Chetwynd BC May 31st June 2nd

On our way to Moberly Lk PP we passed this PP park, an unexpected treat. We ate our lunch here as it was so nice.



Moberly Lk PP is 28k from Chetwynd. It is a very nice park, although the sites could be a little leveler. We found one that we thought would give us some sun for the solar panels and set up.
Jack was kept busy with these guys, there were lots of them.
He doesn't chase them but sure likes to watch them. Of coarse the Ravens like to call him names and swoop at him the odd time. He hides under the truck.

We went for a walk down to the lake, there is a nice playground for anyone with kids. Some pictures of the lake.



The weather was pretty nice here, we had a couple of campfires and cooked our supper on the fire one evening. We did use our Thermocells but the bugs were not to bad. 

We went into Chetwynd for an afternoon. It is known for chain saw carvings. They have a world wide competition and there are carving all over town. Kind of funny, we went to the info centre to ask what to see in Chetwynd, all she could tell us about was the carvings. Turns out there are some nice parks and pathways around town. I am sure there were a lot more thing she could have told us about. There were more streets with carving that she didn't mention. Sorry to say, a very disappointing info centre.




Not much choice for food here, so we decided to eat at A&W. Two burgers, one fries, one onion ring and two Root Beers, $29.00 ouch. Can't say it was bad but not the best we ever had, at least for the $29.00.

 Well we made it, 47 thousand steps, well, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but there are alot. A nice walk from the campsite, got a few caches on the way. Our loop, first come first served, is quite empty. I think the reserved aera has more campers. Here are a few photos from our walk. We wern't sure if these guys would let us pass but they just moved along wiithout any fuss. Till next time.

Skagway

One of the main attractions in Skagway is the White Pass Railway. As it goes almost the same route to and from Whitehorse as driving, we decided not to bother with the train.  We drove back up the hill to take a few pictures. In the photo below, you can see the rail line just above the guard rail on the right, it goes up the valley, and back out on the mountain side on the left. The highway stays on this side of the main valley. There was supposed to be a geocache at this waterfall. We didn't find it, or the three other ones we looked for in Skagway. Looking down the valley towards Skagway. On the Thursday before we got there, a rock slide came down and hit the gangways and a cruise ship. There wasn't much damage but they had to call in the inspectors before they could move the ship. It came down right where the ship to the left is sitting. On the way to Dyea, now a ghost town, returning to nature. Skagway is the perfect tourist town, beautiful scenery, with the town very close...
