Gwillim Lk June 3rd 5th

It was a short drive to Gwillim Lk. PP. Luckily we were there early and got a campsite on the lake.

I had a small mishap getting fuel in Chetwynd, caught the left rear corner of the trailer on a cement block. Put a small scrape in the skirting and ripped the sewer hose holder off. This was on the way into the pumps not out. Lesson learned, if it looks tight it probably is. Move on to the next station.

Once set up, we headed into Tumbler Ridge to see if I could find some straps to put the holder back on. On our way out of the park, we had to stop for these guys.

Once at Tumbler Ridge, we started looking for a place to get the straps. Found a marine store, no one there. The lady in the hair place next door said he would be back shortly. I told Pat about the hair place and as she was looking to get hers cut, she went in to see if that was possible. No but there was a place up the road that may be able help. Turned out she could cut Pat's hair but no time for me, oh well, Pat will have to do it. Right next door was a Home Hardware, got the straps I needed and headed back to the campsite. I got the pipe holder back on with no problems.

The weather is a lot cooler than the last few days, lots of wind and sun cloud mix. As such, we only sat out for a short time, no fires, too windy.

Last year, when we were here, we wanted to see KINUSEO FALLS in Monkman PP but the road was closed due to fires. No fires this year, so after 50k of gravel road, we arrived. It was well worth the shuttering, bouncing and jarring. The campsites at Monkman are nice but we would not be bringing our trailer up here.

If you look close, you can see the rainbows. It is just a short walk to the viewing platform. At the parking lot there are some picnic tables near the river, we sat and ate our lunch there. Back to the campsite.
One of the views on the way back.

Next stop Dawson Creek. On our way, we past two young Grizzly Bears by the road side. There was no place to pull over while towing, so no pictures, hated to miss that one.

As you may have guessed, there has been little to no cell service at these parks. Still prefer them to RV parks, although the RV Parks do serve a purpose. Besides, senior rate till June 15th, we have been paying between $10.00 and $23.00 a night. Compared to RV parks at $40.00 to $50.00.

Random thoughts.

Not sure if this happens every year but the fields all the way along our trip are covered in Dandelions. Huge yellow carpets.

We are keeping an animal count, so far the bears are winning over the deer.

Luckily, fuel is cheaper here, so far. lol

More traffic this year, to be expected but still light compared to the lower mainland area. A lot more RVs but this is a different time of the year than last year when we were here.

Dawson Creek, washing, cleaning, replenishing, fuel and DEF. We did have a nice lunch at a Post and Row Taphouse yesterday, very good, just a couple of small snacks for supper.

Planning for Bucking Horse River PP tomorrow.
