Ft. Liard to Watson Lk. June 11th 14th

Water update.

After getting set up at the treatment plant, Pat inserted a loonie and flipped the switch. The water began to flow. for how long or how much was still to be found out. Well, it just kept running, we filled the tank, maybe forty gals. When we were finished, we tried the switch without putting in a loonie and the water flowed. Could have saved ourselves a loonie but we were glad to pay for good drinking water. We expected to pay a lot more.

About 40km. from the junction of 77 and 97 there is a rest stop beside the Fort Nelson River. Our spot for the night, very little traffic, a good nights sleep. Next morning we head for Muncho LK., one of our favourite places from last year. Full, not a site left, darn, on to Liard Hot Springs. It is also full but there is an overflow section across the highway. We are told just to park anywhere we want, not, we had to move after a ranger came to reorganize everyone. No big deal, but as they knew it was getting full, you would have thought that the guys that got us to move would have been there to park us in the right spot to begin with.

We were in the trailer chilling out and Pat hollers Hartley! I look up and see these legs walk by. Of course, I left my camera in the truck, why would I need it in a gravel parking lot. So I grab her phone and got this photo. No time to zoom in, so I cropped it in the computer. Later I went out to take picture of the campsite and he showed up again across the street. Better photo.

So many campers these days feel so important, that the rules don't apply to them. Of course we get this guy next to us, the generator hours don't mean anything to him. The Parks guy finally told him to shut it off. The rest of the night was peaceful. We did not use the Hot Springs, far too many people for us. Besides Pat said that we did not like any of them enough to have a bath with them.

On we go to Watson Lk. The drive from halfway between FT Nelson and Liard Hot Springs to Watson Lk. is very scenic, the rest not so much, just the road lined with trees.

Watson Lk. has a pretty good Chinese resteraunt, so after we got set up we headed there for lunch. It was as good as last year, we have enough left for another meal.

This morning, June 14th, we were sitting here drinking our coffee and Pat says, was that a dog that just walked by, I got up to check and as I had the camera handy this time got some shots of this guy.

From Ft. Liard to here we have seen a Ram, Bison, Foxes and of course the Moose. Not near as much wild life as last year, no Cariboo so far.

We are now off the the visitors centre to plot our next moves.

P.S. The swan we saw at Hay LK. was a Tundra Swan. I had never heard of one befor.

Tomorrow, Teslin then Atlin.
