Any body guess? June 9th

It is 209km from Ft. Nelson to Ft. Liard, so we thought why not. Most of the hwy is paved, with only the last 15km of it pretty good gravel road. We have great cell service here.

We saw a couple of Bison and a bear, tons of bear skat, the bears must have been sleeping. A picture of the Liard River and a swan on Hay Lk.  We were told there is a nesting pair.

There is free camping at Hay Lakes Campground, Ft Liard, 7 sites 6 were full last night. We were the second to arrive and got this site.

A story about the first campers here.

When we were in Buckinghorse PP, we noticed a couple with a Land Rover and a Boler type trailer, said hi as we walked by. We were the last to leave the campsite and caught up to them on the way to Ft. Nelson, he slowed and let me pass. First stop in Ft. Nelson was the info centre, they caught up to us there. Said hi again and found out they were from Saltspring Is. Went to the Triple G campsite and they pulled in one site over. Because of the weather we had not decided whether to take the trailer to the NWT or do a day trip. We decided to take the trailer and spend a full day here. As usual, we were almost the last to leave the campground. So, to our surprise, these same people were already here in the campground at Ft. Liard. We had a nice chat with Sara and Chris. They are heading more into the NWT, so we won't see them again. We have to head back down the way we came to get to Alaska.

Then along came the presidents of the Jerk club, Motorhomes with a loud generators. The prize goes to the class A that started his again at 4:30 this morning. Although I don't know why we are complaining, we were fighting off mosquitos all night. The mosquitos here are the most we have seen so far, took us by a bit of a surprise, so quite a few got in the trailer. We think they were sneaking in between a window and the screen.  We will be better prepared tonight, either that or we will be so tired that we will sleep through the onslaught. Even Jack was trying to get them, although not to successful.

The amount of travelers this year is at least tripled from last year, Getting campsites will be interesting as we get farther West. The good thing is that we like the Territorial Parks and most of the big rigs like the RV Parks. Tomorrow we head for Muncho Lk., one of our favorites from last year, wish us luck getting a site.
