Banff May 24th 27th

The drive from Moyie Lk., through Radium, to Banff is spectacular. Coming out of Radium on Hwy 93, you go through a pass that is a tall rock canyon on both sides of the road. Sorry no pictures, the windshield squirter on Pats side decided to disintegrate, so the windshield has dirty. OK to drive but not to take pictures. The Ford dealer in Canmore had some, so all fixed now.

The GPS took us through downtown Banff to get to the campground. That was interesting, had to wait for cars to pass so I could get the rig through town. Not to sure what was going on, but wow, was it ever busy. People everywhere, yuck. This was on a Tues. afternoon, crazy. We got to our campsite, set up and decided to go back into town to get the lay of the land. Still crazy busy, got gas and headed home. This is the view driving in and out of our campground.

 May 25th.

As my windshield squirter was broken, we drove to Canmore to the Ford dealer, yay, they had my part. On our way back, we took a drive to Two Jack Lk and Lk. Minnewanka. Nice drive, lots of pullouts with story boards, so you get some of the history of the area. Some of the sights.

Two Jack Lk.

Lk Minnewanka

I will go on one of these if I have to but I decided I didn't have to. lol
Vermillion Lk  A wet land just out of Banff.

Back through town, not as crazy as yesterday but still a lot of people.

May 26th

Lk. Louise and Moraine Lk. were on the agenda for today. Not as busy as Banff but still busy for this time of year. Moraine Lk. road was closed, still too much snow on the road. Rats, wanted to see it. There was lots of parking at Lk. Louise but we decided that with the dull weather and snow on the lake and $12.50 parking, a two minute photo was not worth it.

Headed back down the Bow Valley Parkway and found a nice place to eat our lunch.

The Banff end of the Parkway is closed this time of year to let the animals have there babies in peace. A nice drive none the less

On the way back we stopped here for these photos.

Lastly we drove up the Norquay Ski Area. Steep and twisty, my kind of road. View point at the top. Looking down on Banff.

On the way down we spotted a heard of sheep, only got a photo of this one the others were in the trees an d I could not get a good shot.

Some Elk on the way to the campground. I must say the ones in our front yard look better.

Weather wise, it is about two or three weeks behind the west, or lower elevations. Most campgrounds are still closed, snow, as well as roads off the main drag. Still going down to around zero at night and fifteen during the day. We have had a couple of days almost 20, that was in the interior of BC.

In the Banff area, there are tons of tourists already, not our thing. We have passed by here many times, it was worth the stop.

Off to Jasper.
